Your Questions Answered
Why is this centre needed in North Newcastle?
North Newcastle currently has no mosques or Islamic centres, despite hundreds of Muslim families living here. This project fills a vital spiritual and social gap, offering a local place to pray, learn, and build community.
Is this a mosque or a community centre?
Both! It will have a dedicated prayer space (including Jumu’ah) and also serve as a multi-purpose community hub with facilities for youth, women, families, and wellbeing.
Who is behind this project?
A group of local community members and volunteers under the name The Light Islamic Community Centre, many of whom have led prayer events, classes, and Tarawih in the area for years.
What is the fundraising target and deadline?
We aim to raise £1.1 Million by 11th July 2025 to secure the property and begin the transformation. Time is critical.
How can I donate?
Visit our donation page to make a one-off donation, set up a monthly contribution, or sponsor a room. You can also donate via bank transfer, PayPal, or QR code.
Will the centre be inclusive of women and youth?
Absolutely. This centre is being designed from day one to include dedicated spaces and programmes for sisters, children, and young people. Their voices are at the heart of this project.
